Overtime update for American workers long overdue, reports say

Only 18% of all US workers are eligible to receive overtime pay – and studies suggest raising the overtime threshold considerably

One of the more common misconceptions of overtime pay is that salaried workers don't qualify. They do qualify, but only if their weekly salary is below an established threshold. The threshold of $455 was last updated in 2004,which did little to expand the pool of eligible workers. Overtime exempt workers must pass a "duties test", like being in charge of two or more full-time employees for a fraction of their work week, or holding a supervisory position.

To avoid paying overtime, all employers have to do is give their workers a little responsibility, and set their worker's salary at as low as $460. As a result, fast food cooks who run the kitchen during their shift, or deli managers in charge of the store, can miss out on hundred of dollars a month in overtime pay.

Did you read the article I posted right above this? Compliance with labor standards isn't the problem.


Just did and that is indeed fucked where that threshold is set. I've either been valuable (or lucky) enough to have always been taken care of when I worked in LA, regardless of the labor law or pay. The only conflict I ever had was regarding a really delayed switch over from contractor to full time employee and how it fucked me out of worker comp but I eventually got paid. (and the company got audited :twisted: )

Blue Origin isn't likely fraud but until they actually start launching rockets, it's likely outdated vaporware. Meanwhile SpaceX is moving at breakneck speed and the results are pretty amazing.

I'm balls deep in Musk investment but SpaceX isn't part of Tesla. (though Tesla used their materials engineering to come up with the proprietary magic aluminum used in their massive car body molds...which, much like reusable rockets, is going to destroy the competition)

It's most definitely a scam. Good talk, PR and marketed as responsible investing...but it's a mm deep veneer when you actually look in to the companies that made the cut. (and the virtue signaling reasoning TSLA was removed) Investment equivalent of China's CCP as a member of the human rights forum.
