Ancient comedy of Greek times was one of the final three principal dramatic forms in the theatre of classical Greece. Today many years after ancient writers that inspired Western Civilisation it dies. Not just dead in one country, it is almost dead globally. Why is it that a random internet clip today is often many times better an expensive tv show movie, far better than a multi million upon millions of US Dollar production, perhaps it dies because of fakery, where is its 'honesty'

Once in a while I might go searching for something funny, good wit, clever humor and writing. I personally think comedy is dead now I'm not sure what killed it maybe Feminism the Ugly loud bicthes that never shut the fuck up coming from new 4th Wave Feminism, these FemiNazi forming alliances with Jihadis blowing shit up helps kill it or maybe Self Policing and Cancelling. Perhaps its Low IQ people getting on the internet with their phone and offended by everything....I do not know what has been killing Comedy but it is near dead and not just in one country but everywhere.
Some of the comedy I now watch are long before my time, old Black and White stuff that's how worthless stuff is today, you have to go back to a Marx Brothers vaudeville act for your entertainment, the innuendo and spoof of Airplane or Leslie Nielsen in Police Squad and Naked Gun the comedy team that gave you 'Stir Crazy' when convicted prisoners were laughed at, now in Not-The-Bee clownworld we bring them out of jail to riot and burn down and Loot cities. Maybe the decay starts in the 60s or 70s or 1980s, or maybe media and film and stage it was always a weird club, comedy peaked in the 90s or maybe much earlier. In the Western world a lot of comedians find themselves on the edge of being banned. A Mel Brooks movie would probably not be made today, a mob might chase down Tropic Thunder and RDJ's Blackface for perceived racism, Monty Python's Life of Brian a 1979 British comedy film John Cleese, Terry Gilliam would probably not be made and offend gays or lesbians or some person or someone linked to a social justice diversity group would have it banned, the film tells the story of Brian Cohen , a young Jewish-Roman man who is born on the same day as—and next door to—Jesus, and is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah. Some of the best Japanese comedy might be from the 60s even earlier to the 50s all the way to 1990s, Late Autumn 'Akibiyori', Giants and Toys, Zatoichi had its funny moments, the French movie 'The Fugitives' Pierre Richard, Gérard Depardieu, Le Dîner de Cons, Les Visiteurs. I personally don't really enjoy the game show bullying I kind of get Takeshi’s Castle I understand why tv producers want to try capture and remake this stuff but it is sometimes too formula, always endurance, absurd situations, bully culture and punishment for failure...however I don't really take offense to Japan's candid camera dumb variety game show style comedy, if people enjoy it good for them. Yet we now get politically lectured on tv by a people who have done everything to kill comedy in the last 20 years. Once in a while I might watch a random movie from Brazil or India or South Korea and it seems some of them still have it, that edge or adventure or drive but across much of the Western world free ideas in art and media are dying. Even the normally harmless and funny Disney Pixar stuff is dying as they force political agendas into comedy. Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder movies today would probably fall victim to cancel culture.

Comedy often pushes or pushed the edge, that does not mean it has too be trashy and sleazy I think South Park gets away with it because it is current and the South Park writers have a go at mocking both sides Left and Right. Covid itself shut down stand up clubs, the Corna Virus itself became a lockdown political thing, Comedians went either left or right so maybe this is the thin skin of the Pandemic. South Aprk however was able to mock the entire Covid era using balance to mock both left and right. Dave Chappelle recently draws controversy for a longest monologue in SNL history, the Mafia of certain anti-Free Speech Jews accuse him of holocausting politics, the very same creepy people who would defend Woody Allen and pushing any trash and sleaze bereft of class. What kind of a screwed up Dystopia world are we in where everyone is afraid to Mock an Administration ...the Hollyweirdo tinsel town club in full support of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden .

The West was once praised for its free media and humor now we have formula. They would have art and not just all politics and they supported Libertarian ideas and when they did politics they would keep an Admin in check with their mocking. Japanese is a different story, less War after Atomic bombs and Pacifist, a sense of humor is weird, it had eras of absolute depravity and cross dressing and degeneracy like Rome and Greece but then became very Prude and Controlled, like the British sense of 'humour' for that reason.
