I used to give "motivational" speeches to the new hires each April at our head office. It would be part of their two-week training (brainwashing). After that, they'd get spread around to our various other offices.

Anyone notice the moronic practice of how businesses in Japan only make changes on April 1? From business decisions to issuing point cards, it all happens on April 1. Today my morning coffee was 24 yen higher (fuck deflation!). The Japan Times webpagegot modified (not very well) as of today. Those are just two I noticed this morning. If you remember back two years ago all the blue Mizuho signs went up on April 1. The world could be on fire but nobody would bother with a bucket of water if it isn't April 1. I just don't get it.

The traditional fiscal year in Japan is from March 31st to April 1st. So is the school year (I think).
