hmmm - learning some Japanese would be a good start - you need to work with Japanese typography and so on to stay afloat in the game...

Well... it's aint gonna "boring" in Japan for ya, hee, hee. :P

(Remember to put a lot time in your portfolio. It's the ONLY thing you are gonna be judged on besides your charming appearance since you can't talk/read/write Japanese or have valid work experience.)

Learn Japanese, stop watching so much manga, work on your spelling and grammar.

Not much to add, just that you might be better to learn Japanese and get some work experience before you come. Always bear in mind, why would a Japanese company hire a foreigner who can't speak Japanese over an equally qualified Japanese person who obviously can speak Japanese? But good luck anyway.

Network is the key. It's the way i found my current job in a japanese company while i speak very little japanese. I was introduced to the boss by a friend, i was recomended.
the job interview was a joke, i didn't understand half of it, and my japanese under pressure was so bad i must have sounded like a retard. but he hired me anyway.
The reason is part beacause i was recomended and because he wanted to have a gaijin in his company to show off in the "hey we're so cool we even have a gaijin working here" kinda way.
So my advice is makes tons of friends and tell them that you're looking for a job, hell, tell everyone around you that you're looking for a job.

But if you really don't want to end up broke and depressed follow snapped's advice, learn japanese and find a job before coming here.

Do what I did chum, get yerself a Japanese bird. There are shitloads of them in Sydney learning English and all that, and they love a slice of gaijin beef. They will be able to ease your path over here as it were, and you will have a regular sexual outlet to boot. Happy dredging. 8O
