Labor standards inspectors found 18,511 business establishments in Japan failed to pay for overtime work last year, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said Tuesday. It is the highest figure in about 30 years....
The list of companies included Chubu Electric Power Co., which allegedly failed to pay 6.5 billion yen for overtime work, Takefuji Corp., a major consumer loan firm in Japan, and department store Matsuzakaya Co.

How many hours do government statistics show the average Japanese worker working?

My own experience teaching is that a very large number of company employees are putting in 60 to 70 work weeks where I live. I wasn't even aware that the ministry of labor has been active in inspecting companies
for violations.

I could certainly recommand a few who might be in need of inspection.

Oh, about 20 hours a month as I've regaled you folks F-2-F in the Real World. For me , service zangyo (unpaid ovetime) is just fine because I really DO NOT DO ANY REAL WORK IN MY OFFICE, except post on the FG Forum. :P
