Over 18,000 companies fail to pay overtime allowances in Japan

Labor standards inspectors found 18,511 business establishments in Japan failed to pay for overtime work last year, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said Tuesday. It is the highest figure in about 30 years....
The list of companies included Chubu Electric Power Co., which allegedly failed to pay 6.5 billion yen for overtime work, Takefuji Corp., a major consumer loan firm in Japan, and department store Matsuzakaya Co.
