`Jisastsu Circle' (AKA Suicide Club) is a painful movie to watch. From its gory and sensational opening to its `patronizing' final moments, `Suicide Club' shamefully exploits and capitalizes on death and those taking their own lives in the most gruesome of ways. While we can theorize all we want on director Sono Shion's intentions or debate upon whether or not his movie has any deeper meaning or merit, the fact remains that Sono for all his possible good intentions still trivializes and sensationalizes death in the same ghastly manner as films like `Cannibal Ferox', `Faces of Death' or `Cannibal Holocaust'. Sono's nihilistic fascinations are most disturbing and recalls such blatantly `mean-spirited' and in-your-face films as the `Guinea Pig' series and `All Night Long'. It is true that `Suicide Club' shares some themes with `Battle Royale' but where they differ is in `Suicide Club's' total cynicism and dark abandonment. You'll either get the joke or you won't and for me I just didn't get it.

YESU ZAT'S RIGHTO TARO-SAMA! The legendary Chuo line - the ultimate jumper line with probably more blood on its tracks than any other line in the whole world. I take it everyday and have been stopped at least five times for jumpers in the past five years or so. And, believe me, that sucks when that happens. They shut down ALL JR LINES INCLUDING THE YAMANOTE for like 30-50 minutes or so depending on the number and location of the jumpers. One time it was stopped for a full hour when three (3) people just layed down on the Chuo line around a bend in the track near Ogikubo and were just run right over as the driver had no chance of seeing them. And many, many people were just pissed off like I have hardly ever seen before. I was at Nakano station that night and it was just unreal. I ended up giving up and took a taxi back, but that was even worse as that is what everyone else did and there was this big ol' traffic jam. Oh Buddha!
