It was typical low profile wedding...

 Yawara-chan is one bride with reason to blush

Tamura spared no expense for the "happiest day of her life," forking out a whopping 300 million yen for the day's festivities, allowing the TV cameras to film the event and lavishing herself with an amazing dress adorned with thousands of pearls.

We've even had some people come out and say they don't want to be viewed as being as trashy as Tamura," the employee says. "We're calling this the 'Tamura Minus Effect.'"

"She flashed around money and gave off the impression that she's not only lacking taste, but what taste she does have is vulgar. "

Bridal company employee, saying the Y300 million judoka Ryoko Tamura spent on her wedding ceremony at the American chapel in Paris was tacky. (Shukan Shincho)

She was named Yawara-Chan and sometimes Yawara-Hime during her original reign over all things judo in the mid 1990's. Yawara! being one of the most popular tv shows in Japanese History. (One of the few anime's to not have a big following in the US.) Dispite her not looking a thing like Yawara aside from her hair in the mid 1990's she has always had that nickname.

She's cute in a toughgirl butchie sort of way! :D
Check out what I think you gaijins should be doing when you get to Japan at http://www.tokyoessentials.com ! Cum on, DO IT, I know you want to...

By way of explanation we are currently in the first stage of Japan's TV Olympics.

This is the swimming and judo triumphs 'boy aren't we doing well, aren't we great, Japan's in the finals again - Gambaremasho' stage.

Be patient the tide turns after the first week. Judo is finished, track and field starts. This is called the 'Look folks Japan has made it to the final eight - Gambaremasho' stage. Lot's of 'zannen deshita' to be heard.

The last stage is the 'well while the rest of the world continues on with the Olympics and being as no-one from Japan is competing anymore here on Japan TV we are going to replay all those Judo and swimming medals we won at the beginning' plus lots of meaningless interviews with Japanese athletes retuning to Japan telling us about the food and weather.

Ahhh, you obviously don't have NHK BS TV. We currently have 24 hour coverage of the judo and swimming.

From 2:30 am this morning to now I have been able to see Japan's glorious gold medal win in the men's swimming a total of 38 times - whoops I spoke too soon 39....opps sorry 40...

I was going to ask if BS was any better, but don't look good at all. Lucky I've only seen the Judo repeats 10 times so far.

Did see Ai-chan nearly go down last night. If I shoot my TV when she say's YATTA after every fucking point will she die a slow death ?

Dead on analysis of the inevitable progression of events. All accompanied by the geigher-than-a-NJ-Governor NHK Olympic theme song. And that cheating bitch Kitajima! Every time they show that dolphin-kicking mofo slamming the water with his fist and shouting "Kimochi! Cho kimochi!" I fantasize about hiring a homie from South Central to pimp-slap his cho-kimochi ass and his side-saddle baseball cap into oblivion.

Most amusing comment heard on TV so far....

NHK commenter

'Look look Japan has already got six, I say six gold medals and the games are only just starting.

Now the most Japan has ever won was 16 at the Tokyo Olympics but it certainly looks like we are going to do better than that this time."

I truly shake my head in wonder as either his monumental ignorance or monumental faith.

I think I'm joining you..

I am so frustrated with Japan's coverage, it's causing more stress than I need..

I love men's gymnastics (but I'm not gay). After reading this at work:
Japan won the men's Olympic gymnastics gold Monday, edging out the United States by 0.888 points to win its first team event since the 1976 Montreal Games.

The Americans hit their last six routines, on parallel bars and high bar, to push past Romania and finish with 172.933 points. The Japanese went last and needed to average about 9.5 over three sets on the high bar to win. They did it with ease.

The Americans applauded the clutch effort, but they also celebrated their own.

"It doesn't get harder than that. It doesn't get more dramatic than that,'' USA Gymnastics president Bob Colarossi said. "To come back out and hit the last six routines like that is unbelievable.''

Needing 28.574 points on the high bar to overtake the United States, Isao Yoneda, Takehiro Kashima and Hiroyuki Tomita were nearly perfect. The first two did somersaults backward over the bar and caught it to highlight their routines. Yonida scored a 9.787 and Kashima a 9.825.

By the time Tomita closed, he needed only an 8.9 to clinch. He could have gone conservative, but didn't, opting for a release move backward over the bar with two somersaults and a full twist -- good for a 9.85.

"I was slightly worried about our other rivals' points, but I tried not to think about it,'' Tomita said. "When I finished the high bar, I didn't think about the points. But then I realized we won.'' http://tinyurl.com/47e8n
Fucking great saga, right?

I went home excited to see the whole competition; Romanians faltering, Americans catching-up, Japan needing a certain score to ovetake them both - the anticipation, the competitiveness, the nail-biting... But nooooo.. From what I saw on TV, there were no other teams competing for the gold beside Japan . It was theirs for the taking.. Not ONE shot of any other county's gymnasts. No reference to whom was ahead of whom, or who needed what to lead; just screaming announcers and close-ups of flared nostrils with oozing faces.. fucking worthless coverage.

Of course, I could just flip the channel to watch women's volleyball get fucking humiliated by Italy.. AGAIN!! On two channels, no less! (Yeah, let's re-run the volleyball media-whores getting their asses pummeled, instead of the most 'dramatic event' in the games so far.)

Reading about it's more fun than the snott-running, pore inspecting worthless TV coverage..

Actually, I just talked with my friend, and he said they did show the whole gymnastics competition last night.. I had been too frustrated at this point and turned off the TV, I guess.. Oh, well. I'll catch it another time.

Actually quite a few table tennis players vocalize each score. Ai Chan does it as do most of the Korean and Chinese players.

In one of the *many* articles written about her she said her coach told her to do it.
