Actually, I think once she has her first child that will be it.

I think the next or the one after next will be her last.

Cuz she'l get knocked up and if she is like some Japanese women, her breasts will get HUGE!!. Thats what happened to my wife. Went from a B to a DD.

Too bad they didnt stay that way.

this is a very bad year cause the pricks are actually doing quite well, the medals table with jpn in 3rd was proudly plastered over the front page of the yomiyuri next to the head wagging dolphin cocksucker getting his 2nd gold. :x

wonder if they will have the medals table on the front page next week

They're only in 3rd if you're just counting gold medals. In the overall standings they're in fifth.

Japan is going well. Even allowing for Steve Bildermann's Law of Japanese Olympic Diminishing Returns this sounds like a good year.
How good is it? Have some competitors played above themselves or is it more usual for Japan to underperform? No drug busts either (have there ever been any for Japan?)
Apart from Inoue and the women's loss to Korea in the volleyball, there seem to have been few high profile flops - as an Englishman, I'm a gourmet at the feast of failure. Ai-chan doesn't count as a missed medal because she was an outside hope in the competition at best. Not that you would have known that from the coverage.
I'm not on top of the coverage but I would guess Japan is still hoping for baseball/softball medals and that hammer thrower has been winning so far this year.

Thanks for that. Given what you know about the judoka here, should they be doing better then those results or is this how it is going to be from now? Does Japan need to get used to the idea that their men can't always win the top medals?

The dancers have been good for ticket sales, but not everyone is happy..

Sexy beach antics anger athletes
By Jim White, The Age, August 19, 2004

Two Australian beach volleyball players, Nicole Sanderson and Natalie Cook, have spent much of their first week at this Olympics complaining bitterly that the way the Greeks are presenting the competition demeans their sport.

They may have a point. Midway through the first set of a game on Tuesday between Greece and Brazil, the public address system was belting out a Euro pop song with the lyric "she's so sexy" while 10 leggy dancers in orange shrink-to-fit micro bikinis lined the sandy court, swinging their hips and pouting. And this just as Brazil's Sandra Pires shaped to serve.

Uugh, Australian chicks need to check themselves. What has been passing for feminism in that country for 20 years hasn't yet done them a single favor. The sexy ones have such a hard time trying to be 'equal' that most of the men are wondering what they're trying to be equal to, because they far surpass anything we know about.

The truth is, if they are sexy, then they should just let it be, because men cannot help noticing it. If they can throw a ball over a net, well thats just a plus and we will respect it, but being sexy is just so much better.

And let it be known: I don't have any problem with the fact that all the Aussie women I know are salivating at the male swimmers. :D
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Hey give them credit for what they have accomplished. My beknighted country of Canada has won two silvers and a bronze. One of the silvers was in Trampoline and the bronze was in Synchronized Diving, both of which sound like sports that were invented by Canadians to win medals in.

blackcat,
You might be suprised, the Japanese may want Aussie Rules included. The Japanese national team "The Samurais" are on a roll at the moment with 4 wins on tour. First time they have won overseas.
See Tokyo Goannasfor a small write up.

The Japanese used farkquing sleazeball tricks to win that medal. The sacrificed their runt runners the first 12km running in front of the first pack to burn out the Brit knowing she would not survive a fast pace in the inhuman 95F/35C heat. Groupism, the bane of my existence.

The use of torrid pace setting runner goes back at least to the 1960's when Kenyan middle distance used exactly the same techniques. As I seem to recall from my less rotund high school track and field days, this is a race strategy commonly used at high school, so it is something that all runners are aware of.

I think there should be a rule that one must be over 5 feet tall and weigh more than 100lbs. to enter a "women's" event in the Olympics. (Noguchi fails by 1" and 10 lbs.).

As far as the pace goes, I realize it was hot and hilly, but "the brit" is the world record holder at 2:15 so I don't think the early pace was all that crazy.

It must have been the Japanese water bottles then. :P

Radcliffe's dream of gold dashed at dusk
Financial Times Aug 22 2004 23:48
.... if only we had realised, that the Japanese had taken water-bottle art to extremes. The two belonging to Tosa were got up like a Christmas tree with a long handle covered in green tinsel. Noguchi's was either blue and yellow plastic or black and white with pink trimmings.
Was it this sort of attention to detail that paid off? Or was it rather Noguchi's way of acclimatising that helped her victory? On Sunday morning she and a colleague were observed trotting around a park. That was not so surprising. What was surprising was that Noguchi was in full tracksuit and hat. After that, running 42km in vest and shorts must have seemed a breeze.

Yeah, there is something VERY wrong about cheating 4th-5th place Reiko Tosa of her Bronze just so The Collective can have the designated/proper sempai win the Gold.

Well, look at it this way. America got the bronze :D

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/23/sports/olympics/23marathon.html?ex=1093924800&en=d727bbf6071395f8&ei=5006&partner=ALTAVISTA1

Running perhaps the most ruthless Olympic marathon course ever, Deena Kastor of the United States survived broiling heat and punishing hills to earn the first medal by an American woman in the event since 1984.

Kastor won the bronze, finishing the 26.2-mile race in 2 hours 27 minutes 20 seconds, one minute behind the winner, Mizuki Noguchi of Japan

And what's with this...

The crowd at Panathinaiko Stadium, which was less than half full

Half full? That's not normal is it? I think the marathon is the Olympic event.

And regarding size maraboutslim has got it right but it seems like longer legs would help. I guess it's all about endurance, it's easier to take a smaller body the distance more quickly. Is that it?
Andrew Kastor cited Radcliffe's size - at 5 feet 8 inches, she is four inches taller than Kastor and 11 inches taller than Noguchi - .
