God don't let Ishihara hear this!

Or he'll have us all finger printed and made to carry special cards identifying us all as strangers. Oh sorry we already have to do that. Well then they won't allow us to be recognized on the Koseki tohon system. Wait we can't do that either. Well then they will throw us all in jail as soon as we arrive at Narita, regardless of our guilt. Wait I heard they did that to some of the so called British hooligans. I guess we are all guilty and must be punished.

Did you know that the vast majority of foreigners living in Japan are Asians or Nikkei South American, not Westerners. The Chinese and Koreans already account for almost 60%. Then come the Japanese-Brazilian/Peruvian/etc. Westerners make up less than 5%. Too bad they don't specify the nationality of the "criminal gaijin". I've seen the official figures somewhere, and Westerners were not even on the list.

Here is the number of foreigners residing in Japan. Only 3% are Americans, Europeans are not mentioned, but probably fewer.

Grouping by economic class would be more appropriate. Those that are subsisting on under-the-table physical labor are more likely to get into a bad scene if and when their income dries up, regardless of country of origin. It's unfortunate that both the Japanese public and some people on this board can't tell the difference.

As for the westerners, what kind of criminal mastermind would travel 5,000 miles to rot in a Japanese jail, when they could live in luxury in an American or European jail for a similar crime (and save the flight cost)? Wouldn't it be easier just to teach English?

Well, you've your answer. I don't see why anyone whose mother-tongue is English (or even French, Italian or any demanded languages in Japan) would have to commit petty crime (or worse :devil2: ) to survive when they can just teach their language and get minimum 250.000yen a month (that's better than the average Japanese people :alien: ). I don't understand how foreign girls can work as hostesses when they don't make more than by working at a school like Nova (if that can be called a school). :shake:

You just answered your own question. They obviously *DO* make more money. It wouldnt be hard to make *MUCH* more than 250,000 /month in that busness.

Actually I know a few girls who work as English teachers by day and hosties at night - the money *is* good if they know how to play the game!!

Sometimes I think I am in the wrong business sitting behind my computer all hours of the day and night - but then it is extremely tough work to do what they do. They get alot of small minded guys who treat them bad - verbally demeaning their choices and the like. But then it is a demand and supply market. They wouldn't be working there if the punters weren't prepared to go in and part with their money.

I wouldn't do well because I would tell them what I think of them - rather than just stroke egos.... 8O

Go figure.

Not from what I have heard. Foreigners don't work in soaplands, no pants shabu shabu or anything like that. When they work as hostess, I have heard that the average salary (also for Japanese) is 15000yen for a 5h evening, so 3000yen/h, which is not more than teaching English. The most expensives places (read the best salaries) don't accept foreigners. It's private business between Japanese. But I might be mistaken. If you do know foreign hostesses that make more than 3000yen/h, tell me.

How many days a week? Is that her only job? Maybe we can hook Crispy up with a similar gig in Shinjuku? ;)
