Japanese have all sorts of different ways to express the sounds that animals make. I'm sort of interested in how cultures express these sounds so differently even though the animals make the same sound.

I just think that it's a matter of replicating sounds within the confines of the phonetics available in a particular language. So when a cat makes its signature sound, the Japanese mind will process it in terms of the sounds available in katakana. I think there is a greater opportunity to make up representations of sounds using creative combinations of English letters, though.

That being said, I always hear "moo" from a cow, not "mo" as the Japanese say. And of course, "mu" exists in Japanese, so I'm stumped.

The job of the media is to report on news. It has,apparently been established that Koizumi is being sued over rape. That is news. The man is innocent until proven guilty(well,should be),but as so-called leader, he should also be scrutinised closely.
Furthermore, I don't know what gives anyone the right to claim that even the accusation of rape is bullshit,least of all AK, who, unless I'm mistaken, has no way of knowing the truth.
