I'll be interning in Yokohama for 3 months next summer before I study for the American academic year in Tokyo.....the office is in Sakuragi-cho, and I'm just looking for the skinny on what to do and where to go in Yokohama....

I know there's some good food in Chinatown, but other than that all i know is that Minato Mirai is a huge business center.....thanks for the lowdown!!

CS is our resident Yokohama-ian. I am sure he will be able to impart some words of wisdom!!

Great thing is you are close to Zushi which offers some great beachside bars during the summer. 8)

Sakuragicho! Cool man... that place is awesome. Get yourself a Suica card (fast pass on the train) and head to Landmark Tower... tallest building in Japan. Lots of young ladies shop in the first few floors of Landmark or across the street at Queen's Tower.

If you're looking for...um... seedier environments, you can take the train one stop down to Yokohama station... it's buzzing every night, but especially on weekends. Lots of clubs, pubs, you name it, they have it.

If you want Mexican food (I do... I'm originally from California), you can get it in the Sky Building at Yokohama station... El Torrito is on the 28th floor. The margueritas suck, but the food isn't too bad.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks a lot!! I'm not sure where in Yokohama my homestay will be yet, but after going to work for a week or so I should be pretty comfortable with heading towards the Sakuragicho area at night or on weekends....Thanks for giving me a good base to start from....I've got some maps and non-touristy information, so after I look that over I'll probably have some more specific questions.

Offhand do you know of any good weightlifting facilities around Yokohama?

Also, I'm not sure where I should go to find info on live concert performances, either large-scale or in live-houses....
