The wrong birth date of Shuichi Ichikawa, of which Japan mistakenly informed North Korea, had been entered in the document. The Foreign Ministry and the National Police Agency view the finding as evidence that North Korea forged the application form, as it is impossible that Ichikawa himself entered the incorrect birth date, the sources said.
The application form says Ichikawa's birth date is Oct. 27, 1954, while his real birth date is Oct. 20, 1954, one week earlier. The wrong birth date is identical to that on a list of abduction victims compiled by the National Police Agency (NPA) and submitted to the North Korean Red Cross Society.
