THE average Australian is working some of the longest hours in the developed world, according to an analysis by left-wing think tank The Australia Institute...

Yes - there was one Aussie doing that.

He's been caught and dealt with.

... To bring their annual working hours down to the average, Australian employees would have to take their legislated four weeks' annual leave, then stop working from November 20 until December 31, Dr Hamilton said ...

Which is already what we do - it's called the "silly season", filled with Christmas and end-of-year functions and sun-filled afternoons at the pub and beach, waiting for that average to come down.

I guess we really should clock-off when we do that ...

The only thing I know Aussies to work hard at is how not to work.
A frigging left-wing think tank (contradiction in terms right there). That's almost as funny a notion as Aussies working hard.
You know, our taxpayers used to fund studies like this and we used to give grants to groups like the Lesbian Surfboard Riders Study Group!
Try calling an Australian office at 2 o'clock on a Friday afternoon and you'll see how busy the average Aussie is. I have some wonderful memories of lunches down at the pub with topless waitresses serving us.

It's not how many hours it how much you produce that counts.

Apparently they use a different productivity metric in Oz, something like square meters of sidewalk pizza produced per annum.
