Pacers brawl with fans at Pistons game. Black eye on NBA

Postby deltaco » Sat Nov 20, 2004 3:20 pm

I saw it live on TV and it is now the biggest news right now. Idiots. Both fans and players.

Just watched the long replay... pretty darn incredible. Some real sucker punches thrown. It will be interesting to see what charges are laid.

God I hope we have a repeat tomorrow

I would love to see a hundred Utes jump the fence and kick the shit out of some Cougs.

I drove past the stadium tonight after work and it was packed with tailgaters and high school state championships. Traffic was packed.

BTW 17 years ago my team won state I put on my "superbowl" ring today for good luck. My high school has sucked since our team. I put it on for good luck for the Utes even though I went to Dixie and WSU and raised in USU country.

Shit, I know the fans trash talk the players but a guy like that throwing punches like that, shit, that's insane. That could realistically paralyze or even kill a person. It reminds me of that baseball player who threw a chair at a fan awhile back. Any other profession and you'd be fired and out for life. These athletes shouldn't be able to get away with that crap either. Those guys should be out of the NBA forever. Shit, my dead husband has had smart ass kids trash talk him and get in his face teaching school. If he reared back and punched one with all his might you could bet your bottom dollar his ghost wouldn't be teaching in Japan anymore. Like waiters and bartenders and taxi drivers and nurses don't have to put up with abuse? These athletes are fucking thugs and need some jail time.

Ben Wallace to blame

Postby canman » Sun Nov 21, 2004 4:10 pm

I've watched the highlights(lowlights) and I think BIg Ben should get a pretty long suspension. THe Artest foul wasn't that hard, and he just went balastic. And in all fairness to Artest, he was lying on the scoring table, Wallace threw something at him, and then the fan threw the cup. I personally think that Stephen Jackson was the one who was really stirring the shit. And what about the punch Jermaine O'Neal threw at the fan on the floor. Hell he was a carreer in boxing whenever he leaves the NBA. The ESPN guys were saying anybody who went onto the floor deserved what they got, but I don't think the courts are going to look at it that way. Good theatre, but I wonder what the final outcome will be?

Ugly brawl leads to four indefinite suspensions

Indiana's Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson, and Detroit's Ben Wallace were suspended indefinitely by the NBA on Saturday for taking part in one of the ugliest brawls in U.S. sports history, a fight with fans that commissioner David Stern called "shocking, repulsive and inexcusable."

League officials and police were examining videotapes of Friday night's melee and interviewing witnesses. The NBA issued a statement saying it was reviewing rules and security procedures "so that fans can continue to attend our games unthreatened by events such as the ones that occurred last night."

Artest, O'Neal and Jackson -- who all threw punches at spectators in the stands or on the court at the end of the nationally televised Pacers-Pistons game -- were to begin serving their suspensions Saturday night, when Indiana hosted Orlando.

Wallace's suspension will start at home Sunday night against Charlotte, the next game for the reigning NBA champion Pistons.
