China doesn't like Japan's money...
ODA not needed, Chinese official says
Japan Times
VIENTIANE (AP) China's foreign minister on Saturday shrugged off Japan's plans to phase out development aid to his country, saying the Chinese can rely on themselves to develop their nation.

Li Zhaoxing commented briefly to reporters about the Japanese decision, announced Friday, as he entered a meeting of foreign ministers of the 10-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

"The Chinese people only need to rely on their own intelligence, power, unity and determination to build a developed country," Li said in the Laotian capital, Vientiane.

...but Japan loves giving
Japan will not stop ODA to China
Xinhua
BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Japan says it will not suspend the official development assistance or ODA to China before the agreement between the two countries, China Radio International reported Saturday.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda told the reporter that although the government and ruling party are under lots of pressure on discontinuing the ODA to china, this issue should be resolved by negotiations.

He added that both sides should hold more talks rather than confront with each other.

Recently, many Japanese politicians appealed to completely halt the economic aid to China because China's economy is developing well.

China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue responded that the Yen loan is a form of mutual beneficial cooperation based on particular political and historical background.

She said any irresponsible remarks on the issue would harm the Sino-Japanese relations.
