Yes I just spoke to him. The paramedics are there and trying to figure out how to get him off the 4th floor into the ambulance.

I spoke to the ambulance guy who said he has a compound fracture of the ankle. I tried to get the name of the hospital that they are taking him to, but really didn't understand it.

He sounded jolly considering but that is Taro for you. He is most pissed off that he has a new car ready for pick-up tomorrow.

I think it best that we try to get in contact with his wife maybe tomorrow to see what needs to be done.

Fortunately, he didn't feel it but still it must be stressful. He said he wiped out when he answered the door to the Takkyubin guy. The takkyubin guy was wondering why one foot was at a completely different angle to the other one.

He was on the floor with the keyboard typing the original post.

I've just spoken to Taro's wife. She says she's not completely sure where he is but will tell me when she knows.

I just said we were worried about him and offered our help.

He could be Kanagawa somewhere - cstaylor I'm looking at you if that's the case.

I will try and find out where he is and hopefully see him soon.

The lengths some people will go to to avoid having to provide taxi service for the FG freeloaders. See what you deadbeats have gone and made him do! :D

Get well soon, Taro! (But if this means you're gonna be housebound for a while, you can host the next bash! ;) )

GC - thanks for the update. I was going to call Mrs. Taro myself but won't bother her if you already talked to her. But I'm confused... why doesn't she know where he is? Any update since you posted last?

I need to finish up some critical night shift work here, but I'm just about ready to play hooky, hop in the Omae Mona mobile and go hunting for him. I know his nearest train station & might head to some of the nearest hospitals. I know Japanese hospital food, and he is NOT going to make it through the night on that stuff. We need to bring him emergency supplies! I am thinking about swinging by Domino's (anybody know his favorite toppings?) or at least McDonald's on my way. Granted, not sure if I will find him, but it seems like a good gamble.

I just jogged my memory and answered my own question... I think Taro mentioned she sometimes works crazy night hours like me, so I bet she's still in the office (or at least was before)

If he has to stay in hospital for a while, then I'd appreciate someone popping me a PM with a phone no. so I can give him a call. I'm assuming his keitai will be off as usual.

FOUND HIM!

Postby omae mona » Tue Feb 15, 2005 11:16 pm

OK... I've found poor Taro! Actually Mrs. Taro just got to the hospital a little while ago and was kind enough to let me interrupt her via telephone while she was trying to fill out his admittance paperwork. I passed along everybody's get-well wishes.

Sounds like our friend's going to need an operation later this week, but I didn't catch exactly when it is. She thought it would be OK to visit afterwards, probably on the weekend or next week if anybody would like to go in person, and gave me permission to post the hospital info.

Taro's at Showa Daigaku Yokohama-shi Hokubu Byouin (aka "Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital"). Closest train station is Center-Minami on the Yokohama municipal subway. From Shibuya, easiest way to go is to take the Den-En-Toshi line to Azamino and transfer.

Visiting hours are 4PM to 8PM.

Based on the dead Thai girl in the suitcase thread I'm guessing he lives in Tsuzuki-ku. Try this one:

Northern Yokohama Night-time Emergency Medical Center (Yokohama-shi Hokubu Yakan Kyubyo Senta)

Tel: 911-0088
Tsuzuki-ku, Ushikubo-nishi 1-23-4
Access: A 7 min. walk from Center Kita Sta. (Subway)
Internal medicine & pediatrics: 8:00 p.m.-12 midnight daily

http://www.city.yokohama.jp/me/GuideE/e_guide/clinics.html

I'm going to keep looking.

Good idea GomiGirl!

Postby omae mona » Tue Feb 15, 2005 11:32 pm

Per GomiGirl's great idea, I think a FG group visit might be fun. By the way, I looked at the home page and visiting hours look a bit more generous (though I'm not sure whether they specifically apply to Taro):

Weekdays 11AM-1PM and 4-8PM
Weekends 11 AM - 8 PM.

Anybody up for a Saturday afternoon trip?

Yep - count me in. Pack a picnic lunch and camp out on his bed. I hear J-hospitals are a self-service deal.
