...and another one bites the dust

Prince Takamado Dies
Prince Takamado, a cousin of Emperor Akihito, died Thursday night after collapsing while playing squash at the Canadian Embassy, Imperial Household Agency officials said.

(Japanese) Doctors gave him a heart massage in a desperate bid to save him, however his heart and lungs stopped functioning, according to agency officials. The 47-year-old Prince had never suffered any serious ailment before, the officials added.

Who? This is the first I've heard of this guy...

He was at a lot of the World Cup matches, shaking hands at the beginning..

Do you think the docs did everything they could? I heard they used the 'crash-cart' only twice in the ambulance..

I think when dealing with someone elite, the doctors could be reluctant to take aggressive measures.. Measures that might be needed to save a life. Like breaking out the rib splitter, ripping the chest cavity open and using those mini-shock-paddles.. It usually works on ER!

Apparently he spoke English well and helped Canadian - Japanese relations. He also did many tours of foreign countries. He was also the royal family representative at the opening ceremonies of the World Cup and held talks with the SK president, along with visiting many Korean elementary schools trying to improve relations. he was quoted as saying he wanted Korea to become a "close neighbour close to japan" instead of a "close neighbour far away from Japan" or something. Also he proposed to his wife in English cause proposing in Japanese was too embarrasing.

I learned all this on NHK in the last 2 hours. lol :)
