About 96,000 people in Japan went missing in 2004: NPA
(Kyodo) _ About 96,000 people left their homes and went missing nationwide last year, dipping below 100,000 for the first time in four years but with an increase seen for those in their 60s or older, the National Police Agency said Thursday.

Police received requests from relatives and other people to search for 95,989 missing people last year, down 5.8 percent from 2003, the NPA said.

The NPA said there was a decrease in the number in all age groups except for those aged 60 or older, which went up by 1.7 percent from the previous year to 15,826. The number of missing aged 75 or older came to 6,237.

The number of those who are believed to have left their homes for reasons related to health worries or illness increased 7.3 percent or 11,914, the only category that increased, the NPA said.

By sex, men accounted for 61,276, or 63.8 percent, of the missing people, and women for 34,713, or 36.2 percent....more...

Have you got them, Captain?

I haven't.

Well, ... I have one.

But she's not really "missing", as her parents know where she is.

Anyway, I guess this is what happens when everyone hides and no one seeks. The game's just no fun anymore.

Other people??? Loansharks?

What kind of people go missing?

My guess is you can neatly pigeonhole them into about five catergories.

1) The teenager who runs away because ma and pa won't let them fuck bikers (or become a biker).

2) Alzheimer patients who really ought to be supervised constantly but instead still live in their own homes.

3) Abused wives and children fleeing Daddy Knuckles who has report them missing in the hopes of getting them back for round two.

4) Families doing a bunko from a loanshark.

5) Fools who have lost their jobs but are still under the delusion that it is more shameful to be unemployed than it is to live under a bridge.

Try Aokigahara woods area around the base of Fuji or any of the other suicide spots

You'll find some corpses that avoid getting stiffies
