Hey, the exact same thing happened to me! I lived with two other FGs and we were raided by Nagoya port police, about ten of them, because someone sent my mate some dope. He was cooperative, and insisted that he didn't ask for it. If they can prove that he ordered it, messages on phone, or letters, or anything, then he's fucked. If they can't, then really what's stopping him from sending the police detective some weed and getting him thrown in jail too? He just has to keep insisting he didn't ask for it. And insist on speaking english to cops who can also speak english.
It took two days of questioning for them to finally let my friend out, and they questioned me for eight hours, but they have nothing if they cant prove nothing.

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Happened to me when I first got here

When I first got to Japan some dingbat chick that I know from Canada decided to send me a 'care package'. The return address was Ivana Humpalot. Detectives knocked on my door and asked if they could in. I let them in and they started asking all kinds of questions about the people I knew, who I spoke with...etc. I didn't lie about anything as far as contact luckily. They looked in my ketai and found phone numbers from Vancouver, Canada where the package came from. Then they showed me a photo album 1) pic of the box, 2) x-ray of the box, 3) choclate icing container, 4) gram of weed in the icing, 5) my mailbox, 6) my work, 7) me walking down the street, 
my bedroom window....
They asked me who Ivana Humpalont was...and I cracked up laughing. I tried to explain to them about the movie...but my Japanese was poor at the time and only a couple of them got it. They laughed - the boss didn't.
They asked me to sign a statement. I didn't sign shit until I called my GF over to translate. She read it to me and I made them change it before signing. They left and took the package with all of the contents.
The funniest thing - after they left my cell phone rang. It was the detective (actually Cutoms agent). He asked me if I wanted the other contents of the package beside, of course, the drugs. I said yeah, but I don't want the icing becuase your hands were through it. So two weeks later I got the box...and the icing was in there. I was like WTF? So I opened it just to see...and you'll never guess what the F@#$ was in there!!!
Nothing happened to me...but I still wonder what the hell they were thinking.
Crazy experience to say the least.

Funny thing is that I moved the very next day to a new apartment. You would think they would know what I had going on...but they never came around again. I was paranoid as hell though. I guess I got lucky not to get thrown in the pokey. By the way...I never signed for a box. They left it on my doorstep which could have worked out to my benefit.

I was riding my bike in Yoyogi Park, drunk as a lemur, when the cops stopped me, asking for my passport (Which i didnt have)
I spent the next 3 hours in a Police station while they went to my hotel to get my passport.
If they had bothered to check my change pocket, they would have found 3 E's, and i would have found myself in big trouble.
I consider myself more than a little fortunate.
