TOKYO ---The number of foreign nationals registered as residents in Japan came to 1,973,747 as of the end of last year, setting a new record for the 36th consecutive year, the Immigration Bureau said in a report Friday. The number increased by 58,717 from a year earlier, and accounted for 1.55% of the entire population in Japan....
Koreans, including those who were born in Japan, topped the list with 607,419, making up 30.8% of the total...

It's probably the only percentage of the population contributing to childbirth in Japan. Per capity I would bet the # of mixed kids is higher than the 100% Japanese percentage.

Yea, in my school there is an American guy. He's bright, well mannered, always neat and clean. So I happened to mention to a Japanese teacher, that "Young men like that make me proud to be an American". But the guy in question is an ethnic Korean, but was born and lived his life in the states. It's kind of funny to watch the teachers reaction. They have no concept of what a free society is about.
