The Yomiuri Shimbun signed a partnership agreement with The Wall Street Journal covering editing, printing and sales, in Tokyo on Friday. The signing ceremony at The Yomiuri Shimbun's head office in Otemachi was attended by Shoichi Oikawa, president and executive editor of The Yomiuri Shimbun, and Todd Larsen, chief operating officer of Dow Jones & Co., which publishes the leading U.S. business daily. Oikawa said: "The Wall Street Journal is always the first news media to provide accurate and insightful coverage and analysis on events unfolding in the United States. So, when The Yomiuri Shimbun picks and runs Journal articles, our newspaper can properly meet the needs of Japanese readers looking to get updated on developments in the United States." Larsen said, "Today's wide-ranging agreement between Dow Jones and The Yomiuri Shimbun--two of the world's most respected news organizations--is an important milestone." Under the agreement, The Yomiuri Shimbun will print and distribute The Wall Street Journal Asia in Japan and publish selected articles in The Yomiuri Shimbun starting in March.
