Kyodo: Osaka firm release 2-legged robot modeled after Gigantor
Osaka-based venture business Vstone Co released a two-legged robot on Thursday modeled after Gigantor, a popular comic book robot hero introduced in 1956. The remote-control robot, which is 38 centimeters high and weighs 2.5 kilograms, moves its arms and legs smoothly and walks like a human being, Vstone said. It carries a price tag of 351,750 yen.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the robot and Vstone is again advertising their 351,750 yen Tetsuji 28 robot. Last year's 200 sold out almost instantly and this year's edition will be limited to 100.

Never saw Gigantor on Canadian TV but it sounds like I didn't miss much

It was playing at 7:00 p.m. on New York's WPIX-TV in January of 1966 when Variety gave it a particularly scathing review, calling it a "loud, violent, tasteless and cheerless cartoon", which was "strictly in the retarded babysitter class".

I'm sure most of the Kobe FG's will be happy to see how their recently increased city taxes will be spent.

Obviously a tremendous amount of money well-spent.

BTW, what is "Life sized"? Are we sure 18 meters is/was his actual size?
