[floatl]Image[/floatl]"I don't even think about the fact that I am half-Japanese, half-British"

Japan Today: Becky burns brightly
Regular viewers of TV variety shows in Japan can't miss Becky, the 21-year-old "talento" whose energetic demeanor makes her stand out among her colleagues. But it's no act. When you meet Becky, she comes across as bright as the colorful fashions she likes to wear. Born in Kanagawa to a British father and Japanese mother, Becky has spent all her life in Japan. She doesn't speak as much English now as she'd like to, but understands enough to get by. Unlike many celebrities, she is continuing her education at university and next year will complete a business studies degree...But her staple remains TV variety shows. "They are so much fun. I really love doing them," she says. "Maybe they look a bit childish to foreign viewers, but I enjoy them because of all the people I meet and the different things I can learn. It's something I wanted to do ever since I was young."

Another Chris Betros interview

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Arashiro, whom everyone calls Beni-chan, says she has no problem with the term "hafu."

Japan Today: Beni Arashiro kicks off her career
...In just 14 months, Arashiro has gone from unknown student to recording artist (with five singles), TV ad girl for Kose cosmetics and Glico confectionery and ambassador for the NFL in Tokyo. "When I was a little girl, I never dreamed I would be a singer or even in showbiz," says Arashiro who speaks fluent English. "Actually, I wanted to be in the FBI, or I thought I'd become a lawyer. But I always liked music, though. I have played the piano since I was six." Born in Okinawa to an American father and Japanese mother, Arashiro moved back and forth between Japan and California. She completed her high school education in Kanagawa and is currently studying political science at Sophia University. Her debut into the Japanese showbiz world came two years ago when her mother encouraged her to enter the Bishojo Club (a nationwide contest whose winners go into the modeling and celebrity worlds). "Being a 'hafu,' I didn't think I'd do any good, but I thought it would be fun to give it a try," she recalls. To her surprise and delight, she was chosen. Arashiro, whom everyone calls Beni-chan, says she has no problem with the term "hafu." "I remember some people used to call me a double, but I had no idea what they were talking about. I have both cultures in me and am proud of both. I guess I am more Americanized, though. My English language skills are stronger and I prefer English interviews because I can express myself better."

[floatl]Image[/floatl]From Japan Zone:

Popular all-rounder Wentz Eiji (20) is to make his "world" debut as a model. A regular on the variety show circuit and local fashion magazines, over the last year he has found a new level of success as one half of the acoustic pop duo WaT. Also an actor, he was recently at the Cannes Film Festival where he caught the eye of an editor from a top French fashion magazine. Wentz will appear in the October issue of the magazine Jalouse. He made his modelling debut at the age of four and later became a regular on an NHK kid's show. At the age of nine, he appeared on the famous New Year spectacle "Kohaku Uta Gassen" as a backing dancer for pop starlet Moritaka Chisato. He formed WaT with Koike Teppei in 2002, and the duo performed on the streets of Tokyo for three years before landing a recording contract with a major label. They have won two major newcomer awards this year. Though he is the second son of a Japanese mother and German-American father, he's got a lot of mileage from the fact that he's the only one in the family who has little to no English ability.

She`s cute! I like half Mediterranean/half Japanese women. Their skin tones seem to blend seemlessly so they don`t really look HALF. My buddy`s got a Turkish/Japanese girl and she`s smokin`. I AM VERY ENVY.

Becky and Eiji Wentz have both appeared in this thread and it has just been announced that they will both be appearing in the new season of Nodame Cantabile. In an interesting twist, it seems they will both be playing foreigners. Becky will be putting on a blond wig as Russian piano student Tanya while Wentz will be a French student called Frank.

Maria Ozawa aka Maria Gravure

Postby TennoChinko » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:13 am

My pick is haafu AV star, Maria Ozawa

"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Ozawa" wrote:
Maria Ozawa (&#23567]Life and career[/B]

Like AV idols Tina Yuzuki and Anna Ohura, Maria Ozawa is of mixed-race parentage. Her mother is Japanese and her father is French-Canadian,[2] which gives her a look that has been described as "a perfect balance of Japanese beauty mixed with a dash of exoticism."[2] Since she attended an international school from primary school to high school, she claims that her English reading and writing ability is better than her Japanese.[3] Despite her international background, in interviews Ozawa expresses a preference for Asian sexual and romantic partners. While at school, she played hockey every day, and often went to karaoke after class.[3] [4] Her hobbies include cooking, which she is good at, and watching AVs on her flatscreen television set.[4] She also enjoys playing video games, and owns a pink Nintendo DS Lite,[5] and a pink PlayStation 2 console.[6]

Ozawa had her first sexual experience at the age of 13,[3] and learned the "48 sexual positions" through a book that she bought herself.[3] She first encountered AVs by watching several tapes that belonged to a friend's brother.[3] Unlike most AV actresses, Ozawa was not scouted. Instead, she was introduced to the AV industry through a friend that was working in AVs.[3] Ozawa was interested in the industry, and researched companies until she found B-open, a model agent which she liked. She applied for an interview with the company and was accepted.[4] She started modeling as Miyabi for the site shirouto-teien.com in June 2005, which resulted in several sets of photographs and two hardcore gonzo videos. She was then signed by the S1, an AV company that produces light hardcore pornography, premiering for them as Maria Ozawa on October 7, 2005 with the video New Face.[7] Ozawa remembers that she was so nervous during the filming of her first AV that she could not look the male actor in the face.[3] At S1, Ozawa subsequently appeared in one original video per month until February 2007.

Ozawa's family and friends are against her chosen profession, in spite of her apparent pride in her work. When she brought several of her videos home to show her parents, they refused to watch them and told her to leave.[4]

She has also participated in several S1 compilation videos including the company’s entry in 2006 AV Open, a competition between Japanese pornographic studios that aims deciding which studio can produce the highest selling video. The video that featured Maria Ozawa, among other AV idols Sora Aoi, Yua Aida, Yuma Asami, and Rin Aoki won the first place.

Maria Ozawa and S1 parted ways in early 2007. Along with Rin Suzuka, Reina Matsushima and Rin Aoki, she moved from the safe, but popular S1 to a new startup company, Dasdas (DAS). On April 25, 2007, Dasdas released the first videos of the company, among which is a video featuring Maria Ozawa. Dasdas videos contain scenes of rape, creampie, urolagnia, enema and physical torture, themes not featured in the light hardcore style of her S1 videos.

Besides adult videos, she has appeared in V-Cinema films, a photobook and several glamour ("gravure") videos. She has also appeared on Japanese MTV,[2] and in Yokohama hip hop group DS455's music video for the song "Summer Time in the D.S.C.".

During a 2007 interview, Ozawa reported that her interest in the AV industry remains high, and her video cabinet contains nothing but AVs. She makes a good living from the industry, living in a mansion (a high-class apartment) with a US$ $1,682-per-month rent, and earning a minimum of $8,000 per month.[4] However, while she says that she would quit the industry only if she is forced to do something else, she would try to prevent a friend from beginning work in the AV industry.[4]

Marie Helvin, one of the top supermodels in the 70s and ex-wife of leading photographer David Bailey, has been making a bit of a comeback of late. It turns out her mother was Japanese and her father a GI. Although she was born in Tokyo, she grew up in Hawaii and speaks no Japanese. She says her career started at 15 when her father sent her on a trip to Japan with her mother and she was approached by a scout. Her first contract was for Kanebo. Although she has been famous for looking exotic, I'd never made an Asian connection, let alone Japanese. Digging out some early pictures, though, it is much easier to see:

This is a more familiar image of her from the eighties:

Kyodo via Japan Today: Actress Erika Sawajiri causes car accident
Actress Erika Sawajiri, 21, was involved in a traffic accident Monday night when the car she was driving collided with a motorcycle in Meguro Ward in Tokyo. Neither Sawajiri nor the motorcyclist were injured, police said Tuesday. According to police investigations, Sawajiri was turning right at an intersection around 9 p.m. when her car hit the motorcyclist who was turning left. Police believe Sawajiri was at fault but have not said if any charges will be filed. Sawajiri has been in exile from show business since she appeared at a movie premiere in October in a bad mood.

That reminds me of that one time I had parked my car at a remote building in the mountain and some old obaasan came walking by pushing her bicycle. It was about 6 in the morning and nobody was supposed to be around and she was just staring at me. She had slowed to nearly a stop she was staring so hard.

So I tapped my gf on the shoulder and said, "Hey look!" and she popped her head up from what she was doing. I thought the old lady's eyes were gonna pop and she immediately put her head down and pushed her bicycle double time to wherever she was going.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

This campaign is doomed, it is inherently less believable than the previous "Where The Fuck Are You?" oz travel campaign.

Why does mandatory insurance need a campaign girl, or a campaign for that matter?
