Fukasawa believes herbivorous men, who tend to have an eye for fashion, get on well with their parents and have a slender physique, are partly the result of their environment.

i blame it on the copiuous amounts of quality j-porn. 2d is a lot easier to deal with that 3d (at first) which can make for a lifetime of social awkwardness (ie being a pussy around chicks.)

Not to dismiss the times when women really are violated by men, but having known people caught up in false allegations, I can never help questioning the truth behind stories like these. It seems all too easy for some slightly screwed-up young women to royally fuck some creep on a train whose looked at her the wrong way.

It doesn't help matters when the vast majority of post-adolescent sexual abuse victims were abused as children and tend to later find themselves in situations where abuse is likely, again and again. Also, some women who have been sexually violated in the past tend to easily misinterpret innocuous acts by men as violations. Unfortunately, these victims usually attract the type of men who are victimizers, and are more likely to push the boundaries with a woman.

Herbivore, the new homo

Postby Midwinter » Sun Jun 07, 2009 11:47 pm

CNN wrote:TOKYO, Japan (CNN) -- They are young, earn little and spend little, and take a keen interest in fashion and personal appearance -- meet the "herbivore men" of Japan.

Author and pop culture columnist Maki Fukasawa coined the term in 2006 in a series of articles on marketing to a younger generation of Japanese men. She used it to describe some men who she said were changing the country's ideas about just what is -- and isn't -- masculine.

"In Japan, sex is translated as 'relationship in flesh,'" she said, "so I named those boys 'herbivorous boys' since they are not interested in flesh."

Typically, "herbivore men" are in their 20s and 30s, and believe that friendship without sex can exist between men and women, Fukasawa said.

The term has become a buzzword in Japan. Many people in Tokyo's Harajuku neighborhood were familiar with "herbivore men" -- and had opinions about them.

I look at this herbivory thing as a great big plus in terms of driving the female populace directly into my clutches. If Take's crew are into further feminizing themselves, that's just further incentive for me to let my knuckles scrape on the ground.

Right on.

Seriously, I don't understand traditionally masculine men who are threatened by some men becoming more feminine, I just look at it as more shit for me to prey on.

I don't think masculine men feel threatened, just totally annoyed by their students who are more concerned with their hair than anything else. It is bad enough that girls are always pulling at their hair, girls with long hair that is, now guys are doing the same. God it pisses me off. The other thing I really don't like is how long Japanese young guys keep their nails, not painted, just animal claw long.

Well that's true.

The thing is... EVERY MAN WANTS TO GET LAID.... so for a group of guys going around de-emphasising it is disengenuous at best, and outright manipulative at worst.

I agree, I have a class of 40 students, 5 girls and 7 guys that look like girls. We are talking about clips in the hair, pink socks and belts, enough gel in the the hair to create an oil slick. It just pleases me that like the guy in the article, these kids have no goals in life and are probably going to live of their parents for the rest of their lifes. And you are right Iraira, girls need a man, not these skinny, muscleless boys.

I have had numerous conversations with women as to what is "their" definition of a MAN and the answer that I usually get is: they are looking for someone kind, be able to dress well and NOT overly muscular. This would be the ideal image and optimum for many Japanese women. When I ask my Herbervoric male students, they are extremely proud of their cool appearance and "Perez Hilton" fashion style. What annoys the hell out of me is that I constantly have to ask my male students to raise their voices when they speak.
They always talk in a soft, delicately spoken tone, which to most humans is inaudible, unless you have the hearing of Lassie!
But I agree, most of these men have no ambition, goal are seriously A-sexual(and proud of it too)and content with their status in life. Any man that wears pink pants, slicks his hair back with hard wind-tunnel tested hair gel looking like Freddie Mercury and crosses his legs like princess, does make me question his masculinity just a tad bit.

Most women don't care for excessive beefcake, however, a friend of mine noted that a lot of the audience, if not the majority, at the K-1 fights is female.

Just reminds me of all those interviews done with famous Japanese women when they are asked about their ideal husband. You never hear "Oh I want a guy who looks just like me, has the name body type, wears the same jeans, and dyes his hair just like mine." No, I hear I want a blond, with big arms, and likes to snowboard.

Keep in mind that there is always a difference between what a woman says to her guy and what she means

J-girl to J-guy: No, I don't like guys who are muscular (you scrawny weak-ass pansy motherfucker)

J-girl to Gaijin guy: I like guys who are beefy (you narcissistic hanging at the gym with the other guys homo).

Yes, but a woman's goal when dating is not to have as much sex as possible. Their aim is to get as much male attention and goodies as possible AT ALL COSTS and create a team of orbitting sattellite male fans.
To that end OF COURSE, a kind, socially acceptable, weak willed spineless gay man is PERFECT for the role. He doesn't demand sex, he gives women ample amount of attention and tolerates all her nonsense, and that makes the woman feel really good about herself. She doesn't even need to lead these guys on at all!
The fact that women say they want Mr. nice and caring man apparently gives a lot of guys the idea that falling into this trap is actually a good plan to get what they need emotionally from women.

Sex for a woman, on the other hand, is a different story.....

There are a lot of different approaches to that, but you occasionally do run into those girls that will say "Enough with this tender loving care shit, drive me through the fucking headboard!"

Yeah, but what the article is saying is that this guys are no longer willing to be the cattle of these blood-sucking vampires that are these materialistic and attention seeking J-women. But I didn't think that there were that many of these types of girls that would cause such a dramatic change in the Japanese social system. But they seem to have created such a shift in the Japanese guy's mind set there seems to be a rising significant number of these J-men who seem to have lost interest in making money and having sex, maybe in a result to get out of this cycle of having to make money and then have it sucked up by some J-girl who could just be using the guy to so she can afford a Louis Vuitton purse or Chanel sunglasses. It's sad, but that's the world we live in.

It's just weird for me because I wasn't motivated to make more money or go out and mingle with girls, I would probably just kill myself.:noose:
