private courses in Tokyo

I'm thinking of taking japanese courses in Tokyo. Personally I would prefer to follow private one on one type of course because I feel I would progress faster that way. Oddly enough although one on one teaching is quite common for japanese learning english (think eikaiwa), the reverse seems to be less frequent. Actually it does exist but it's not the preferred teaching method in most schools and is usually quite expensive.

So is that really the norm? around 5000 yet for an hour? what is the best school for private lessons in terms of quality and price?

I know that the best school questions has been asked many times but I didin't see any (recent) topics about private lessons at language schools.

How does the Meguro Language Center rate? it comes up quite often when I do searches on JLPT...

No doubt you've done some poking around the internet yourself and hopefully someone else can post some personal recommendations but I did find these sites which may assist:

Also, I know you said you'd prefer solo lessons but I'm in a small group class (about 5-7) and it is great fun. But it's not in Tokyo, sorry.

Thnaks for the reply. Yeah, I have like dozens of schools bookmarked. The problem is that there are so many it's difficult to find the one that matches your needs.

hmm well I wouldn't be against a learning in a small group, like with 3-4 people as it would be more fun and a great way of meeting other people. However as I am not a beginner (I've followed evening courses for several years in my home country) it makes it more difficult to find people of the same level...
