Still remember a steamy condom commercial just before a screening of "The Net" with Sandra Bullock a sunday in a local cinema full of kids... great WTF!? moment...

I prefer some to none (though not into the landing strip or other odd shapes they seem to think guys like) but the overgrown jungle look is the worst.

At least if you get lost in the woods you can rap some meat curtains around you for warmth.

LOL, some of the jungles I've seen here would eat a machete and you'd never find it again. Need some agent orange to even attempt to go explorin' those caves.

I would use napalm... get all the trees out of the way and you can find any hole you need to enter.

You can see a number of Then and Now photos from immediately after 3/11 and now at this site. I think the headline of the story is could use a re-write:
See how Japan has rebuilt in the 11 months since the earthquake and tsunami

I think "See how Japan has cleaned-up in the 11 months since the earthquake and tsunami" might be a better characterization of the photos.

Yes, not even close to "rebuilt," but not for lack of trying. The cleanup is pretty impressive, but of course it's only the first step. I'm guessing that things will be a looking a lot better in 3 to 5 years, but it'll be a decade or more before the term "rebuilt" will be accurate. There's just too much to do.

and I hope they plan on spreading houses out, redoing the plumbing, and widen the roads.

would be quite nice if they did some modern development...

I think that everytime they have the change to rebuild or develop new land but it never seems to happen. "Japan doesn't have much land!" is all I ever hear
