Soooo... you never worked for Microsoft it seems...

Nope. Got offered a job way back when, but there was something off about the staff members I interviewed with.

Plus I rarely roam anymore.

In February {2010}, Rakuten began distributing papers written in English instead of Japanese at its Monday morning executive meetings, a policy that soon covered meetings attended by all employees. And in March, the dozens of participants at the executive meetings were required to speak in English...more...

Rakuten CEO: We are having a "psychological problem" with our older managers who "lose their dignity" when English is used.

Mikitani's Engrish is superb!
But, as with all other grow-ball-izing Japanese companies, what's the point of using Engrish when you only appoint token junior directors (if at all)? My guess in this case is that it's another way for shacho-san to assert his authority.
Mikitani proves yet again that the more acquainted a Japanese is with the outside world, the more likely they are to be an insular exclusionist intent on nothing more than tokenism...sort of like minor reform to apartheid.
