Dear god... some peeps are showing their age (again)...

So for the kids out there...

Before Echelon and the DHS (for the level headed) or the Lizard shapeshifting people (for those dropped when they were baybees). People were feeding their paranoia (right or wrong) around conspiracy theories revolving arond the Alien prisonners in the Area 51 and all powerfull organisations like Majestic 12. I think the final nail in the coffin for this version of "the man is against meee" was the broadcast of the X-Files who while being clearly a work of fiction was making bazilions times more sense than any theory floating around in those days. And when a TV show that run for 9 seasons lead with a hot redhead without showing a single boob or piece of ass make more sense than your daily believes... you know you're in for a hard landing when you sober up...
But maybe the real final nail was 911, because talking aboot omnipotent governemental fraction and then watching illiterate camel jockey successfully blow up landmarks in the USA kinda create conflicting thoughts...

The various kinds of Bots are often the only visible "Registered" users on this site besides me. The Google Bot visits so often that it appears to be permanently logged in (based on users active over the past 5 minutes) and the bing bot seems to visit every 10 minutes.

if you ban the google bot the M12 bot will be the next to take over. If you don't know what a m12 is, you have zero chance banning bots. The search bots will just continue being renamed (valo, tarmac, senate, just to name a few examples.)

IIRC Majestic-12 is a UK-based distributed bot trying to create some hippy decentralized searchengine. Which is all very noble, but over the years I've seen it download many many pages from many many sites without any apparent benefit so I prefer to give it the cold shoulder. Evidently it's not honouring the robots.txt entry. Just as soon as the roundtuits arrive some zapomatic code will be put into place which tells it and other undesirables to fuck of before they even hit the forum software.

Bot which bring vistors are fine. Bots which suck bandwidth for someone's pet project / data vampire startup / nefarious spamming porpoises need to have their little botty heads shoved down /dev/null and held there until they expire.
