I thought those looked more like Japanese "KB's" than US MP's.

If the Amerika-jin father catches them first, I'm sure it'll be all over the news. Attacking a 6yo?! 5 men?! WTF?!

But not nearly as much as it should.

I can't decide which is more embarrassing: the incident itself or the reluctance of major national media to run the story. Imagine the reaction if it had been a group of American adults assaulting a Japanese child. This is the kind of outrageous bullshit that really gets my fur up.

Or for that matter, if it had been a Japanese child. Which it was, of course, not that the media thinks so.

U.S. military helicopter crashes off Okinawa, all on board rescued

A U.S. military helicopter crashed in waters off the Japanese southern island of Okinawa, Japan's defense ministry said on Wednesday, citing information from the U.S. military.

The Japanese Coast Guard, citing the U.S. military, said that all 17 people on board the UH-60 Black Hawk had been rescued, including seven who were injured. The U.S. Forces, Japan, had no immediate comment.

The accident comes as Japan's central government begins talks with Okinawa's governor over contentious plans to relocate a U.S. Marines air base to a less crowded part of the island, host to the bulk of U.S. military forces in Japan.

Okinawa gov revokes approval for relocation of US air base

Okinawa's governor on Tuesday revoked approval for work needed to relocate a U.S. air base from one area of the southern Japanese island to another, but the Tokyo government said it would still proceed with the plan.

Speaking of Okinawa I'm sure Kurogane will be happy to know that it might become the next must-visit spot for foodie douche bags since Anthony Bourdain has put out a new episode of "Parts Unknown" featuring it.

The local foreign enclave is all a flutter about this episode. A couple of them got to work as fixers and location assistants. Naturally I had to watch. Very underwhelming. Way too much time spent on the war history and base issue, and on really pedestrian tourist fare like Okinawa soba and taco rice. And karate, prominently featuring one of the biggest Mr. Miyagi wannabe charlatans the island has to offer (and the competition is fierce). They did have a young guy near the end of the episode who better represented the attitude of a lot of young and middle aged residents, but they should have used that as a segue from the old worn out image of Okinawa to the vibrant youth scene, the restaurant scene away from the tourist traps and base gates, the transition from despised backwater to the Okinawa boom. Instead we got a museum puff piece.

I haven't watched it but from the clips they showed on that link I figured it was going to be something like that. Plus him palling around with the charlatan you mentioned was an automatic turn off.

I'm not sure if the dude is just a whiner or is inspired by Tea Party (say no to everything you don't like in the hopes it'll just go away eventually). I'm leaning towards whiner as the dude will probably STFU once the central government gives Okinawa a ton of cash.

Tokyo sues Okinawa in US base relocation dispute

The Japanese government took the local government in Okinawa to court Tuesday, launching a legal battle in their longstanding dispute over the planned relocation of a U.S. military air base on the southern island.

A lawsuit filed in a regional high court in Okinawa seeks an injunction to overturn Okinawa Gov. Takeshi Onaga's recent decision to cancel a previously issued approval for land reclamation work for the base relocation.

Cut his balls off...for science!

Sort of on topic but recently, one of the uni-age girls I know, has been bitching a lot about the uni professors at her university being given some sort of ”government required teach sheet” that she sums up as "Japan is losing all it's wealth to foreigners and all Japan's problems are foreign in origin." She said at least some of the professors talked shit about it but there were dumb cunts that shouldn't be teaching that just taught it as is and of course a few furrin-hating professors that took it even further.
