Yokohama

Postby hakuman » Tue Mar 01, 2005 1:36 am

I have recently moved to Yokohama, but I dont know what to do here! I have been to minato mirai, which is cool, but there must be more to this city.

Anyone know any good bars to go to, places to check out, or places to hang out? Any info is appreciated.

Hmm..if I can't nudge the Yokohama contingent into action, I'll have to try and remember some places myself. I did find a number of friendly bars near Yokohama Stadium. I'll look at a map.

I'm actually closer to Shibuya than Yokohama, but my address is Hama.. Don't go there much, but it's a nice city.. A little spread out for walking. China Town.. Meh.. Worth missing.

The station itself is a mess. I think it's been under contruction forever.. The AkaRenga area is ok. Again, far from the station. I saw lot's of right-wingers there for Octoberfest..

Yamashita Koen is good for bangin' chicks outside. Or watching others doing it..

I like the architecture around Yamashita Koen; feels European.. Although, I've never been to Europe. Lot's of arches, bricks, etc..

I think Yokohama might be a tad like Fuji-san; Best viewed from a distance.. ;)

Yokohama is a beautiful city. If you like walking, check out the old areas of Yokohama, like Kannai and Yamate.

In all honesty, I haven't spent that much time within the city itself.. But it always seems like I'm walking a lot when I go there.

I hear Yokohama has some English classes - try and attend one of those. Don`t worry, there are plenty of Beginner Level classes.

I hear there are also places where foreigners with inferiority complexes hang out to try and please those Japanese who laugh at them. Seems like the right locale for you, little man. I`ll get back to you!

Chinatown is of course great for a meal, but I wouldn't consider it a hangout. I've been to Yokohama a few times and got the impression that there was plenty to do, but that it takes a while to find out what those things are. It also depends on what you're into.

Yep, it shut down in May.
Most of the customers are military and the yen/dollar killed the place. Of course, Yokohama Gas Panic's shitty location was the real problem (but not for me since I work nearby). Thursday nights were wild with 300yen happy hour all night.
