Osaka Launches Free Quarterly Guide For Foreigners

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Dec 07, 2006 2:37 am

KIPPO: Osaka launches free publication foreigners
Osaka Prefecture has launched Brand-New Osaka, a free publication for international readers designed to improve the brand image of Osaka by introducing the prefecture's numerous attractions. The launching of the publication, which has English, Chinese and Korean editions, is the first for a local government in Japan. The 8-page, tabloid quarterly publication carries hot information from Osaka and will have a circulation of 125,000 (50,000 copies each in English and Chinese and 25,000 copies in Korean). The first issue of the publication introduces the culinary culture of Osaka, including special articles on instant ramen (Chinese noodles). It also carries information on tourist spots in Umeda in central Osaka and National Museum of Ethnology in Senri, Osaka. The copies will be placed at facilities for international students, hotels, airports, etc., in Japan. Outside of Japan, they will be distributed to government agencies, universities, travel agents, Japanese companies, etc., especially those in major Asian cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul.

All Ramen, All the time

Postby Kuang_Grade » Thu Dec 07, 2006 5:33 am

I think its completely awesome (and very Osaka-ish by being food centric) that their first story is a piece entitled "greatest invention of 20th century! Instant Ramen!...and the link at the bottom of that page is "next article:Instant Ramen keeps evolving"
The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.
