And why not?
The U.S. press has demonstrated even greater pusillanimity in dealing with another skeleton in Tokyo’s cupboard: the Unit 731 abomination and its literally unbelievable postwar sequel.

Japan will not retract its 1993 apology for forcing women into sexual slavery in military brothels during the war, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Friday in an attempt to ease tensions with South Korea.
...
“I’m not thinking about revising (the statement) under my Cabinet,” Abe told a session of the Upper House Budget Committee. “My heart breaks when I consider the immeasurable pain” inflicted on those women.
...
Abe, whose perceived right-leaning policy has angered victims of Japan’s wartime militarism, particularly China and South Korea, also told the committee that he stands by Japan’s formal apology issued in 1995 to wartime victims.
“As for my own historical views, I have taken the position held by previous Cabinets,” he said, referring to the 1995 statement by Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama expressing Japan’s feelings of “deep remorse” and “heartfelt apology.”

Sadly, the most common or vocal response is angry emotional diarroeha instead of the attitude shown in that delightful comic strip posted somewhere here a month or so ago (the one where the kitty cat at the irori ignores the Korean and Chinese whining and goes back to enjoying her bowl of buta-jiru). I'd love to see that again, btw, if anybody has it.
They actually have earned the right to be treated as a normal nation, though spazz attacks like this never help that cause.

<snip>There also is good reason for Japan to work more closely with like-minded states such as the Republic of Korea. This bilateral relationship, like others involving Tokyo, remains tainted by history. But so long as Washington essentially smothers the region with its security blanket, allied states have little incentive to eschew taking domestic political advantage of nationalistic sentiments and work through historic difficulties. Take away the American guarantee, and other states have a much greater incentive to cooperate.</snip>

In other words, Washington has issued an ultimatum...

Those PMs are just stupid PM spam that's being sent all around the Internet.
Try googling a portion of the text, like "Preferably by getting crushed to death in a garbage compactor" for example. You'll get lots of hits from all around the world. It's not one of our regular members.
** Can a mod take a look at this and kill the sender's account please?

If yes, I would prefer you all to refer to me as Your Majesty, being the Last King of Scotland as I be.
