While not a smoker myself I think the world has gone crazy, and in many ways the powers trying to ban smoking act much the same way as the pigs on Animal Farm. First it starts out Smoking is bad for you, then the create this massive smoke screen of lies and distortions: Like one TV ad I saw had a buisiness man smoking

"So and so is not a bad guy, he takes his kids to Baseball, is a member of the civics club etc." But the point of the clip is this outright and blattant lie today 47 people will die from his second hand smoke. What trite, what a lot of sheep we are to let them get this far.

If you think "well, smoking is bad . . ." You don't get the big picture at work. This is about the elite excercising control over the masses.

That is the truth. Its not as dangerous tho, but just as addictive.

And smoking IS bad for you.

Another reason to control "bad" things for people is to keep a country running. They dont want people dropping dead and messing up productivity. Same reason they want people wearing seat belts. Same reason they dont want people smoking weed. One reason is that it is fairly easy to grow and they wouldnt be able to regulate it. Tobacco plants need a LOT of room and care to grow as opposed to weed. Remember the government gets a cut of liquor and tobacco profits.
As for alcohol, people want quality liquor and its REAL hard to make quality whiskey on ones own. Let alone gin, tequila and other stuff. It's easy to control.

Also, weed has lingering effects as opposed to tobacco and alcohol. And a little bit can go a LONG way so profits would be low if they taxed it cuz people would grow their own and taxes would be low.

Other drugs are just plain dangerous.

Government May Change Warning Label on Tobacco
The government's Ministry of Finance, which owns the majority stake in Japan Tobacco, may change the health warning on cigarette packages, the Nihon Keizai newspaper said, without citing anyone. The current labels say ``Be careful not to smoke too much because that would hurt your health.'' The government is considering putting stronger warnings.
