Word out there is Governor Yutaka Yamaguchi might become the next BOJ leader

Some LDP members and business groups are trying to block the move and promote Toshiro Muto, they also didn't show much love for Fukui who was a rate hiker.

DPJ have a lot to sat on the matter

As usual, they sure do, but nothing worth the time to listeno.

AFX: Japanese govt nominates former finance vice-minister Tanami to head BoJ
The Japanese government nominated Tuesday former vice-minister of finance Koji Tanami as the next governor of the Bank of Japan (BoJ), an official of the main opposition party said. The opposition Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) immediately disagreed with the nomination, raising the likelihood of a leadership vacuum at the BoJ amid persistent instability in the financial markets. The government submitted its recommendation to parliament just one day before the end of the term of the incumbent governor, Toshihiko Fukui. Tanami is currently governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation. He was vice-minister of finance from January 1998 until July 1999.
