In a nutshell, social Darwinism was/is an attempt to explain anthropology using evolutionary terms. Problem is that there has been no natural state of natural (re: conclusion of Earth Summit 2000), thus, there is no clear outcome for evolution to be directed to. Phenotypic & genotypic correlations that work in one particular environment may be completely broken, reversed, inconsequential in other environments, and trying to ascribe some set direction that any organism is moving in (given the complexity of life history characteristics) is like trying to count the grains of sand on a beach during a tsunami. Ascribing metapopulation evolution to humans is subject to the same flaws as most non-laboratory studies of evolution (and many laboratory studies also), in that too many factors influence temporary outcomes (ala Sewall Wright's adaptive evolutionary landscapes). All we got is a present snapshot, some historical molecular studies, and the dice ready to roll for tomorrow...which is Monday.

It doesn't really matter (the Nikkei component, that is). Unlike the Jews - or Koreans for that matter, there is no 'right of return' that allows for easy naturalization. More understandable if you realize most of their ancestors were not wanted in Japan in the first place. Many were burakumin while others were coal miners the government feared would become union members and/or communists due to declining economic conditions. So, they "helpfully" shipped off the riff-raff to Latin America:
