The hardest part was the intense withdrawal from sugar as a fuel source (all carbs are broken down into simple sugars in the body) and finding ways to get enough animal fat in the diet. Lots of meat out there, but much of it is too lean. I typically eat bacon & eggs for breakfast, chicken breast with the skin for lunch, and some sort of pork or beef dish for dinner. Some vegetables in season, and very little fruit and starches. As a bonus, my blood pressure dropped 15 points, I rarely catch cold anymore, and my guts have never behaved better.

Or, I'll get four pieces of chicken at KFC, which does have some carbs from the breading, but is a lot better than a bunch of bread or rice or potatoes. A lot of places serve starchy staples in combination, making it doubly bad. I've had excellent results with low carb, and would probably drop the last two kilos I'd like if I could just lay off the beer.
His premise: That in weight loss, pure calorie counting is what matters most -- not the nutritional value of the food.
The premise held up: On his "convenience store diet," he shed 27 pounds in two months.

You certainly wouldn't want to show any self control.

I think bad eating habits, vegetables and fruits with half the nutritional content of 50 years ago from "modern" food distribution, corn syrup instead of sugar, plus other cultural behavior changes have had more of an effect than any changes in human physiology in processing sugars.
