A foreign student was left in a critical condition after he was stabbed in an unprovoked attack in Brighton. The 24-year-old man, who is Japanese, was attacked as he walked through the Manor Hill area of the city early on Saturday evening. Police said it was a "motiveless" attack where the man was left for dead. The victim was taken to hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery. Two men from the area were questioned and have been released on police bail. The incident happened at 1800 GMT near Brighton Racecourse. A police helicopter was scrambled to try to catch the offender.
