
Two recent instances of toddlers losing fingers in paper shredders prompted the industry ministry Wednesday to call on manufacturers to produce safer devices. Both incidents involved 2-year-old children while they were at home. One child lost nine fingers, and the other had two fingers severed. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry requested manufacturers to take immediate safety steps to prevent a recurrence of such accidents.
