Nonaka Floats The Idea Of An Asian Union

Postby Mulboyne » Mon Sep 22, 2008 1:23 am

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Hiromu Nonaka, former LDP secretary general, has suggested at a conference in Kobe that Japan, China, Russia, Korea and North Korea consider forming an economic partnership in the manner of the European Union. Back in 1998, Nonaka was the first LDP executive to visit a memorial in China to the 1937 Nanjing Massacre so he has been keen to promote better relations in the region. If only he could come up with a name for his plan. Perhaps something which captures the idea of the most eastwards nations in the Asia region prospering together?

I'm all for supporting better relations, I support partnerships and freedom of trade

but Ultra-Confucianism for the whole of Asia, sounds very dodgy

Has Nonaka been thinking this through? Probably not

What goals are they really aiming for? certain corporation exploiting poorer nations where the people have no unions and will work for a dollar a day

Who gets the presidency of the union? Russia? Japan? DPRK? and for how long
Who gets to print the bonds, agreements and currency?

Perhaps they want to build that fucking superhighway from Korea into Japan just like the superhighway those NAFTA nuts propose for the N.America
Nonaka always sounded like a dreamer not a realist

First step - the countries need to get along.
This includes admitting this that and the other - which will never happen.
This means making some sacrifices for the sake of better bonds - which isn't looking to happen.

I don't want to be too synical, but there's a few steps that need to be successful before such an idea is viable.
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

what's ultra-confucianism? I have heard that "confucionist ideology" is part of the reason asian cultures are so distrustful of gaijins, but I don't really know anything about the subject, could someone elucidate plz?

How about the Greater East Asia Coprophagia Sphere? Those nations which disagree with the plan can eat shit and die.

anyone hear of The Bilderberg Group?
This Asian Union reminded me of something that was in a documentary by Alex Jones. Anyone interested in NWO conspiracies check out http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=kkLNiv6EP-I

yeah its conspiracy theory stuff, but its entertaining nonetheless.

Isn't Nonaka a burakumin and the politican indirectly referred to by Taro Aso when he made a quip about eta being unsuitable to lead Japan?

Why would the Japan want to deal with the dirty chinks and the sick gooks? (sarcasm)

Seriously, this is interesting. I'm wondering what the other countries would think of such a plan. No doubt the North Koreans would be game, their economy would get a healthy boost.

What about China? Do they really need such an agreement? I've read a few economic reports from various think tanks and experts in the US, Japan and China. They all vary in their predictions concerning China's growth. They range from surpassing Japan's GDP as early as 2010 to surpassing the US's GDP by 2020 or 2040. Whatever one's opinion may be, everyone seems unanimous that China (despite it's current problems) will eventually balloon into this Godzilla economic powerhouse sooner or later.

Japan on the other hand has been in a secular bear market since 1990 and it looks like it may be many more years of hardship.

To complicate things, the US is in a deep credit crisis that some think may take decades to recover from. Many have compared this current sub-prime debacle to the Japanese meltdown of 1990 (bad real estate loans) from which Japan has not recovered fully yet.

Perhaps an Asian union would be beneficial to China, driving more export trade. Any thoughts?
