Breaking news from the Asahi (Japanese): 1 in 20 Fukushima schoolgirls walk with a blanket in front of their legs (see above left). Apparently, blankets made an appearance during last year's cold winter but mainly were used in classrooms and on windy station platforms. This year, girls have been spotted actually walking along with them. Some told the reporter that they don't use a blanket because it doesn't look cool while others swear by them, saying that walking in school uniform mini skirts can be hazardous. Unhappy with this introduction of unauthorized colour and cute logos, schools have started to introduce ordinances banning them.
