So now Japanese burglars are imitating gaijin non native English speaking burglars (Chinese I guess) by speaking broken English. But how would they know it was good broken English? Maybe they thought it was good non broken English.

I wonder if they have to get their broken English checked by a 'native' English speaker or a regular Japanese speaker who is trying to speak good English or a Chinese non native English speaking burglar.

But I think the point is that broken Japanese isn't good enough anymore (as it was the trend a few years ago during burglaries) to pass off as being a foreigner. Now it is full-blown English.

I can see the eikaiwa curriculum slowly changing to accomodate this:
