Likely innocent, he locks cops in interrogation room escapes

Murder suspect locks police in interrogation room, escapes
Mainichi Shimbun, Nov 14
...Prosecutors began questioning Kitamura at the Kurume station on Saturday morning. His handcuffs were removed in between questioning so he could have dinner in a room on the third floor under the watch of three police officers, when he fled.
The door to the room is designed to lock automatically when shut and cannot be opened from inside. At the time, however, the door was left half open because the three officers inside the room were not in possession of the key to the door.
Kitamura suddenly dashed out of the room, and shut the door behind him so the officers were reportedly trapped inside.
After getting in a taxi in Kurume, Kitamura called an acquaintance of his father on a mobile phone he borrowed from the taxi driver...

Likely Innocent???

Postby dimwit » Sun Nov 14, 2004 9:08 pm

Taro do you know something your not telling us. The guy is son of a gangster and the mother was almost certainly involved in loan sharking, and murder victims were in debt to her. The guy is said to be 'unemployed' which given the family means gang member. Or am I just missing the irony. :?

Yep. Innocent (and guilty) Japanese are so passive and cowed that they never think of escaping. Once while I was waiting to bust my drunk judo sensei out of the drunk tank I remarked that the bars were only screwed to the window. EVERONE was horrified that I even thought of such an idea. Japanese don't "escape"...sheesh.

After calling his dad, what happened to him or will happen to him?
I guess having acted against Japanese homogenity will cause a lot of trouble if they catch him now. even if he is innocent. If he was innocent no Japanese would expect him to act as he did. Acting like that means he is not innocent and will cause more trouble.

Taro, why were they so horrified by the idea of escape?

I once taught the police in a small town in southern Ehime and in many cases they were very slightly more intelligent than the people they were arresting. Which is probably the principle reason gangsters can get away with so much. Some were cops only in the Keystone sense, so it hardly surprises me that they would get locked in there on jail cell.

I think his dad gave him a spankin', though, only because he got caught in the first place.

This was answered in a different thread.

Captain Japan wrote::puke:
The few criminals the Japanese do have often turn themselves in within a week]they simply feel too guilty, and honor dictates that they face the music of justice rather than hide.[/b]
:puke:

AK, I'm totally jealous, none of the coppers at my Koban look like that. Though, it'd probably send me on a crime spree if they did...
