Hi, new here, but have lurked for some time. I'm travlling to Wakkanai on the 5th-7th of September, and was wondering what I can do there? It was a spur of the moment decission, to visit the north most point of Japan, and maybe I bit off a little too much. I know there's the two islands (Rebun and the other I think) but thought maybe some people have had experience there.

The first one mentions a ferry service to the disputed Russian islands, just across the water - how's your Russian?

If you really like a challenge, you could try:

Let me reassure you. Even at the remotest hamlet on the isle of Hokkaido, there will always be plenty of beer and liquor available, and a convenient gutter where you can pass out in a puddle of your own vomit.

Actually, I did think about heading over to Russia on a quick trip, but the quick trip isn't quick enough for the already quick trip to Wakkanai... One day I will, probably not this year though (or next either).

Probably not, but a lot of Debito's places were just carryovers from the days of the USAF Air Station that was at Wakkanai.

For those interested, I arrived yesterday, and found everybody to be friendly in a very country style. What a lovely place Wakkanai is, and can't suggest enough for people to visit. I'll write up more tomorrow when I return to Tokyo... Edit: If I can with the typhoon.

Yes, they haven't been ultimately post processed a whole lot at this stage.
The camera is a Canon 5D, fixed with a series of either 16-35 f/2.8L, 24-70 f/2.8L or 70-200 f/2.8L.
