David Beckham is a God, according to his wife Victoria. The former Spice Girl claims her Real Madrid footballer spouse is worshippedlike a deity in Japan and there is even a temple where his followers got to pray to him.
Victoria told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "There is a temple there where the Japanese go to pray to a statue of David. I know it sounds crazy but it's true."...

I read that, too. It's kind of like when the Cosmos hired Pele. In the long run, that didn't work. However, if they can tap deeply into the Korean as well as the Mexican market, the Galaxy could rival the Dodgers in the LA market. After looking through their roster, I wonder why they didn't invest in a hot young Mexican (pant) and a hard-bodied Korean stud (cute little dicks, AO!) instead of some washed-up honkey.

I think there was a rule that the teams had to have at least three North American players on the team, or on the field.

If you remember that you should try and check out the movie Once in a Lifetime:The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos, released last year in the States. There's also a book, but I don't know for sure which was based on which.

Can I try some more? How about the MISL(Major Indoor Soccer League) that kind of carried on when the NASL fizzled out? Some of the NASL teams had teams in the MISL, too.
Played on an ice-less ice rink with some hockey-like rules: free substitution, penalty box, and even some goalies with helmets. (I think Shep Messing wore one.) But if this were still around I guess it wouldn't be any surprise.
