I never understood why in Japan so much English is used? Then again I don't know the history of the clountry too much. In Kyoto I often saw "open house" and wondered how many Japanese understood that. Or "Renta- ka-". Is Japanese the only language in the world that does not have a word for "rental car"? They should use Japanese words and be done with it. I think this whole katakana thing is a bit ridiculous. Please ignore that last sentence, it's not up to me to determine if it is ridiculous or not.

I love Japanese advertising copy that uses "Scheme" in it----I sure do want to buy a (software) product "scheme".
