Good moaning to you all :hehe:

Two main pet peeves that come to mind:-

1) Lack of decent deodorant in this country. All they have here is some stupid spray on stuff which is about as effective as spraying on soapy water. Thankfully I got some speed sticks in hawaii.

2) All they have on free-to-air (if you can call it that with the NHK annoyances) TV is variety program after variety program ad nauseum. Even when you understand Japanese, they suck.

Once again to re-iterate;

Bitching at the weirdness in Japan: OK, NP - It's normal.

Hating or ridiculing a person just because they are Japanese: Calling them Japs or such, Bad.

You can rant all you want to about Japan, that's fine it's a frustrating place. I got some rants about health-care, I hate to be patronized because I'm not fluent, etc etc.

It's the racism that makes me uncomfortable. Any form of racism, Arabs, Mexicans, Indians (India), Jews, Blacks, Japanese, etc

(But people from Alabama are fair game, we hate them

Amen.. I have to smuggle back my favorite Rightguard sticks and recently Axe because the ones they have here are the ineffective pouporri smelling vagina sprays that wear off.

I always wondered why they have to add subtitle to the meaningless shit they say on those variety programs. For emphasis? They are super annoying and I can hear what they are saying the first time.. thank you.

Ever been to a restaurant where they serve wine, and see how they store the bottles upright? No better way of turning wine to vinegar than drying out the cork.

AMEN.. When I order whine (oops) wine, I have to make sure that it has not been stored with the white wine in the fridge!!! Cold red wine is just so wrong.

Yes, and then they open it and serve it immediately. Gotta let the reds breath for a few minutes before serving.

No, but hating someone just because they're from a certain place is regionalism which is just as bad as racism. Here's an example:
Some Tokyoites and Osakans resent each other. Tokyoites think Osakans
are rude and uncouth, while some Osakans think Tokyoites are snobby and uptight. You rail against racism while thinking it's funny to cut my state down.
Doesn't matter if it involves race, religion, social class or region, being prejudiced is just plain nasty.

No one ever actually wins an arguement on the net. I mean how do you win? What is the basis by which you can decide if you have won?

I suppose if you managed to sway the other person to your line of thought, you would have won, but I dont imagine that happens very often if ever. Even after a huge debate, both parties usually walk out feeling the same as they did walking in.

I just discovered they sell deoderant at costco. 1000 yen for four sticks of speed stick. Kind of a limited selection - they only have two varieties to choose from (different types of speed-stick) but I like that brand myself, and its better than nothing.
