Earth To Koizumi-Come In Please!

Postby homesweethome » Fri Aug 05, 2005 7:58 am

Japan PM calls astronauts LONG DISTANCE to ask if earth is really one big instant noodle.

"Mr Noguchi, I tried the space noodles, but how did they taste in space? Were they good?" Koizumi asked.

"Is the Earth really blue?" Koizumi asked during the conversation with Noguchi, a member of the crew of the U.S. space shuttle Discovery, and the mission commander, Eileen Collins.

I think his next question was going to be: "Is the earth really round?" but his phone card ran out of points.

Come on Jun! I know you are stressed out over your postal bills and stuff, but you have been hanging around with George W. too much lately. Find some more intellectual company.

Yomiuri: JAXA plans to develop Japanese food for ISS
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency says it has decided to develop Japanese food for astronauts who stay at the International Space Station. JAXA will seek menus from domestic food manufacturers, and those that meet the newly established standard for certification will be recognized as JAXA's official Japanese-style space food. They will be included on the station's menus, and are expected to be delivered to the space station as early as 2008...Space food on the station is prepared to international standards and must be capable of being preserved for long periods of time and be securely packaged to avoid contamination.
AP reports that in the planning stage are:
space rice balls, space seaweed soup, and space green tea. But Japanese officials say sushi won't be going into orbit because the shelf life is too limited.

I think they should at least have sashimi available, because of the availability of fresh fish at their final destination. This is of course, is assuming that the usual J-rocket launches hold true to form!
