Pachinko/slot machines are the euphemism for gambling in Japan. People who go there regularly are a bunch of zombies who blow away all of their hard-earnings. Sure they may win some, but they may end up losing away their entire life.

Pachislo not going anywhere

Postby Gaijin Biker » Sun Aug 07, 2005 3:32 am

The article is misleading.

The law regulating pachislot machines was changed in July 2004. Machines approved before the change do not meet the new standards on maximum payout ratios, which were lowered to reduce the lure of big potential winnings.

Any machine approved before the new law can still be used until, at the latest, July 2007. That is where the "three years" figure comes from. But pachislot makers are making new machines that comply with the new law, so there will be no suddent dissapearance of pachislo machines from Japan in three years.

And the word "pachisuro" is a Japanese abbreviation of PACHInko SLOt.

As I have said before, You cannot win against a gambling machine in the long run. I have heard ALL the stratagies and know how to set the machines up to play/pay from the operator side. They are for mugs, a bit of fun yes, but only losers play long term trying to win  you have no hope  .

Japan Times: Museum rises from passion for pachinko
Tetsuya Makino, 40, has devoted most of his life to a game that has fascinated him since he was 7 years old: pachinko. Makino first started playing with the machines at a department store in Tokyo. Now he manages a pachinko museum that boasts 148 machines, many of them admired as rare and historic mementos of the game's industry. "I am really grateful for my encounter with pachinko. I wanted to say thank you to pachinko and wanted to return something" to the game, Makino said in a recent interview with The Japan Times...The Pachinko Hakubutsukan (Pachinko Museum) is on the third floor of a building situated in the middle of Tokyo's Higashi-Ueno district near JR Ueno Station...more...
