Another Difference of Opinion

Postby Captain Japan » Mon Aug 08, 2005 7:23 pm

I noticed recently that Yahoo! and Yahoo! Japan have been giving completely conflicting weather forecasts for Tokyo. I first stumbled upon it around the time of the last typhoon (two weeks ago). For example...

Here's the Yahoo! forecast for Tokyo for this week:

And here's the Yahoo! Japan forecast for Tokyo for this week:

Yahoo! has been predicting rain and thunderstorms nearly everyday for the past two weeks, and when was the last time it rained? The day of the typhoon, right? So what's going on?

Like I mentioned the other day, I think the scary thunderstorm icons are too frightening for most Japanese; happy, puffy clouds with a chance of joyous sunshine makes for safety country comfort living.. ;)

There were scattered thunderstorms today, though.. They were soft and cuddly.

The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

its because you are looking at Tokyo, Arizona 8O

I think in the US, there are kind of scare tatics going on in the news. you know the whole "if it bleeds, it leads" thing. I remember noticing on a local newscast the weather had thunderstorm icons the whole week but it was only a 20% chance... well why dont they just say 80% of no thunderstorms. its just silly.

Maybe it's a cunning plan to keep FGs off the streets.

Susano-Oh-Mikoto is actually a lunar diety, perhaps the Fujin-Raijin duo would be more to mind here..

I've tried checking WeatherUnderground for Tokyo temps, and their predicted temperatures are generally a good 5C lower than the actual weather station temperature displayed on the site. :?

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.
