After the golden years - Post Bubble Japan ! ?

Postby Buraku » Mon Aug 15, 2005 2:46 pm

Many of the old-timers in Japan will remember the glory days of a stable yen, growth in the electronic industry, the price of oil and gas low, a strong Tokyo stock market, back in the 80s and 90s, Japanese stock market was briefly worth more than the rest of the world's stock markets put together and the Nikkei was 14 times higher than the Dow at 38,900, Japanese leading the world in computers, and a good pension system

So what picture or passage defines Japan post bubble

Or which newpaper clip, phrases, or website best describes Japan after the bubble

Ghost towns, closed shop fronts and empty streets

Shintaro-Blinky's rants about Gaijins and Chinese ?

Yakuza that can only afford to drive cheap cars

Taxi drivers that are happy to see a Gaijin instead of running away in fear

I didn't have time to read any of the text in this thread, so I have no idea what it's about. But based on my viewing of the pictures, I have to say I agree with Taro, and disagree with homesweethome.
